He is a doctor of Philosophy (Chinese History) from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. He now teaches in the department of History at Hong Kong Shue Yan University.
His books include “The Golden Rule of Persuasion — A Study of the Book of Representative Benevolence in the Qing Dynasty”, “Kindness and Harmony with People — Charity and Enlightenment since the Ming and Qing Dynasties”, “The Book of Kindness and Chinese Religion: Selected Works of You Zi ‘an”, etc. “One hundred Years of Taoism and Taoism in Hong Kong (chief editor)” was selected as one of the “40 New Books recommended by Famous Scholars” in Hong Kong in 2002.
His academic expertise covers the history of Taoism in Hong Kong, Taoism and folk religion in South China, books of the Ming and Qing Dynasties and charity, and home stay and fieldwork.
He has been honorary advisor of Macau Taoist Association, member of the Taoist Culture Database of Hong Kong Peng Ying Sienkwan, cultural Research fellow of Sik Sik Yuen Wong Tai Sin Temple, and member of The Taoist Society of Japan.
