Visiting Professor - Prof. Shu Sinn Whor

Professor Shu Sinn Whor taught at the Department of Chinese Studies at Nanyang University and the National University of Singapore. Other posts that he held concurrently include: visiting professor, the Department of Chinese, University of Hong Kong; member, the "Confucian Ethics" Educational Committee; voluntary research fellow, Institute of Chinese Literature and Philosophy, Academia Sinica, Taipei; professor of East Asian Humanistic Studies, Singapore; director, International Confucian Association, Beijing; academic advisor, Singapore Chinese Chamber Institute of Business; professor of Chinese culture at the Singapore Senior Citizen Calligraphy University, and etc.

 

He is the author of A Critical Assessment of Guo Xiang's Studies of Zhuangzi and Collected Essays on Pre-Qin Confucianism. He has also published numerous articles on Confucianism, Taoism and Buddhism in reputable journals such as Xuedong (Journal of the Department of Chinese Studies, NUS). The courses that he offers include:"The Philosophy of Taoist School and Religious Taoism"; “The Philosophy of the Book of Changes".

Visiting Professor - Dr. Ning Ngui Ngi

Dr. Ning Ngui Ngi graduated with BBA (bachelor of arts, first-class honors) from the department of Chinese of Nanyang University. He earned his master of arts from the Asian Culture Research Institute of Nanyang University, and PhD in Philosophy from the National University of Singapore. He was a visiting professor to the department of philosophy of Xia Men University in China. He has been teaching in various colleges and universities, e.g. the department of Chinese of NUS, the department of Chinese of SIM, the department of Chinese of Ngee Ann Polytechnic, the Daoist College Singapore, the department of Chinese of the Southern College in Malaysia, the department of Chinese of Han Chiang College (Malaysia). He teaches History of Chinese Philosophy, History of Chinese Culture, Han Feizi, Concept of Confucianism, Daoism and Legalism, Zuo Zhuan, Selective Readings of All Classics, Guided Reading of Ancient Books and etc. He authored the book of “The Harmony of Confucianism and Legalism: The Historical Exploration of The Concepts of Han Feizi”. He edited several journals, e.g. “Folk Culture and Religious Belief”, “Chenhuang Belief”, and “A New Cult: The Confucianism in South East Asia”. His researches include the Concept of Confucianism, Daoism and Legalism in early Qin Dynasty, Daoism and folk belief and the classic and popular education of Confucianism. Teaching Subjects:Selective Readings of Daoism Classics, including Dao De Jing, Nan Hua Zhen Jing, Zuo Wang Lun, Cong Xu Zhi De Zhen Jing and etc.

Visiting Professor - Master Huang Xin Cheng

Master Huang started his religious practice since the age of 17, and he is an expert in Taoist music and Taoist rituals. Master Huang was appointed the High Priest of the White Cloud Temple in Beijing from 1987 to 1993, where he was also the Assistant Team Leader of the Taoist Orchestra. Master Huang studied at the China Taoist College from 1990 to 1992, and he came to Singapore in 2000 where he was appointed the Tutor of Rites for the Lorong Koo Chye Sheng Hong Temple Scripture Chanting Class, and also the Leader of the Singapore Taoist Orchestra. Since 2001, Master Huang had led the Singapore Taoist Orchestra to perform in the annual Taoist Musical Gala, and he had recorded eight pieces of Taoist Music CDs and a documentary DVD on the Taoist practices and beliefs. Master Huang currently lecturing “Taoist Rituals” at the Taoist College (Singapore).

Visiting Professor - Mr. Phang Weng Kiong

Mr.Phang Weng Kiong : Born in 1958,Singapore.Ancestral origin Guangdong province,Nanhai.

Studied Chinese Painting under Mr.Nai Swee Leng, Calligraphy and Chinese Painting under Mr. Koh Mun Hong.Has been teaching and practicing Chinese Painting,Calligraphy and Seal Carving for the past 20 years.

Teaching experiences: Nanyang Academy of Fine  Arts,Singapore Calligraphy Centre,Peoples’ Association Community Clubs,Schools and etc.

Has participated in local and international exhibitions and also works are collected in Singapore and Overseas.

1998 Selected for Inclusion in a compilation of Past and Present Chinese Artist.

Visiting Professor - Mr. Tan Thye Hock

陈泰福,新加坡道教学院书法老师。1953年生于新加坡,原籍福建同安。1995年,随已故书法家黄国良老师学习颜体楷书、二王行书。2002年,担任人民协会以及多间民众俱乐部及学校书法老师。2007年,加入新加坡书法家协会,并担任新加坡书法中心讲师。多年来,经常受邀担任全国书法比赛评选员。其作品多次参与国内外各项美术展览及海外交流展,并获得新加坡陆路交通管理局、公用事业局、人力部、环境发展部购藏。

开设科目:2012年道教文化课程 第三学期《书法:楷书与行书》
